Have you ever wanted just one piece of chocolate cake? Not a whole cake where you would be tempted to eat the whole thing in 2 days--then feel guilty for the next 2 weeks--but just one piece of chocolate cake. Just a little something to keep you company while you pay the bills, or after you put the kids to bed, or while you watch your laundry pile up. Well, here's a recipe for a chocolate cake in a mug that gives you the 'chocolate-pick-me-up' you may need to tackle that load of laundry.
3 TBS all-purpose flour
2 tsp cocoa
1/8 tsp baking soda
1/8 tsp salt
2 TBS sugar
2 tsp veg. oil
2 TBS water
1/4 tsp vanilla
latte mug
frosting
In a small bowl, sift first 4 ingredients together. Then add last 4 ingredients and mix well. Spray the inside of mug with cooking spray; add cake batter. Put in microwave for 2 minutes. Top with frosting, a homemade chocolate glaze, or chocolate syrup.

Oh. My. Gosh. Ali you rock! This sounds wonderful, and my dieting self often reminds my over-indulgent self that I don't need to make a cake because I will eat it ALL. Now, I can make it and eat it all, because it is a single serving. Perfect! Thank you. :-)
I have seen this recipe before but I am glad that you have posted it because I lost the link. This is great for those times when you just need chocolate.
What a great idea. Honestly when i make chocolate cake I feel compelled to eat the whole thing.
what a great idea, looks yummy!
I definately always have chocolate cake guilt...this is a great recipe!
Ok, You always have great recipes and great ideas, but I think this by far is the best...... I can't wait to try this.
That is great Ali! I could go for that nice little chocolate cake too!
Dawn--Your welcome! But don't forget the frosting!
Renee--I had to combine the recipes online for cake in a mug with regular size eggless cakes (because I had no eggs) and luckily it turned out great!
Debateur--I feel the same way especially since my hubby doesn't have as much as a sweet tooth as I do so I feel like I need to eat it all!
Kristen--It's very yummy! I let my sister have a bite the other day and she ended up eating it all!
Jenn--Hi Jenn! It's not very pretty but it does taste great!
LeAnn--I haven't tried it yet in a regular coffee mug but if you do (I think it will fit) let me know how it turns out!
Judy--I should have fixed you one last Saturday--oh, wait, then you wouldn't have gotten any key lime pie:)
Oh thank you so much! Please post more of recipes like this - I hate how if I want something sweet I have to make a crowd-worth. I even got a small batch baking cookbook to solve this problem.
Hahahaha! LOL! Thats right! and the Key lime pie was the best!
Maybe next time?
Where have you been all my life??? This would go so great with my Foldgers Chocolate Truffle coffee.
Oh bless you! You're like a bloggy angel sent from heaven! (because in heaven, everything's made of chocolate!) I will get ingredients and let you know how it turns out! I knew there was a reason I HAD to check your blog today!!!
Jojo--I so need one of those cookbooks!
Judy--Remind me!
Stacyrenee--Mmmmm...truffles.
Jennifer--Don't forget the frosting! Let me know how it turns out!
OMG!!! You are now my idol and I will worship you every time I make this beautiful concoction!
Kat--LOL! Just make sure no one's around or else they'll take it for themselves!
I love loved your recipe!! Amazing!! To my regrets, I'm now on Gluten Free diet and have discovered that anything that has wheat in it sets off a reaction so until I figured out if I can convert it to Gluten Free All-Purpose Flour it will just be very fond memory.
